AVI50219 Diploma of Aviation – Commercial Pilot Licence – Aeroplane +75 Hours Multi-Engine
This unique Airflite Flying College course provides a recognised training pathway for a participant to achieve an aeroplane commercial pilot licence (CPL), a multi-engine aeroplane class rating with an outcome of +75 hours of multi-engine flight time, and the award of the following qualifications:
- AVI50219 – Diploma of Aviation (Commercial Pilot Licence – Aeroplane)
- AVISS00046 – Night Visual Flight Rules Pilot Skill Set
- AVISS00069 – Multi-Engine Aeroplane Pilot Skill Set
This innovative program provides a training pathway for participants with zero-time as a pilot to become a competent and capable professional pilot-in-command. The program uniquely incorporates +75 flying hours of advanced multi-engine flying on the Piper PA-44 Seminole aeroplane, allowing participants to cost-effectively obtain multi-engine proficiency very early in their career.
Who would select this program? – Participants eager to fast-track a career as a charter or corporate pilot towards operating larger aeroplanes used by air transport operators and aerial work operators.

Total Ground School Duration: 11 weeks
Upon completing the course a participant shall satisfy the knowledge and flight standards in the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Regulations (CASR) Part 61 Manual of Standards necessary to be granted the following by Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA):

In addition, this course follows a Vocational Education and Training (VET) Course of Study which includes levels of competency from the AVI Aviation Training Package developed by Australian Industry Standards (AIS). This is an intensive flying training program conducted continuously over 45 weeks requiring full-time attendance by a participant. Participants receive ground theory training with practical flight training within AFC’s approved CASR Part 142 flight training organisation to deliver integrated training courses, and approved Registered Training Organisation (RTO No.52904) to deliver VET services.
Training weeks nominally include five (5) days from Monday to Friday.
Ground, Simulator and Flight Training will typically be conducted between 0800hrs and 1700 hrs, with the exception that night flying practical training will be conducted after dusk hours.
All training is conducted face-to-face, on-campus from Airflite training facilities located at 15 Eagle Drive, Jandakot Airport, Western Australia, 6164.

Recommended completion of year 12 secondary high school education.
CASA regulations state that participants must be a minimum of:
- 16 years of age to gain RPL licence.
- 18 years of age to hold Commercial Pilot’s Licence.
Students must pass a Civil Aviation Safety Authority approved medical examination which examines sight, hearing, reflexes, heart condition, blood sugars, drug presence, balance, and colour blindness.
Students must pass a security and police check to receive an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) preferably at commencement but must be prior to first solo flights. This is a national requirement for all pilots and employees in the aviation industry.
Have an Aviation Reference Number.
Demonstrate evidence of language, literacy and numeracy skills at the requisite ACSF level e.g. have proficiency in written and spoken English to at least Aviation English ICAO Level 4, with level 6 being desirable.
Completion of the Drug and Alcohol Management Plan (DAMP) Awareness for Safety Sensitive Aviation Activities (SSAA) Employees – eLearning, conducted through CASA’s online learning system AviationWorx (this has a two year currency).
Comply with the AFC RTO code of conduct requirements that include:
- Directions on work, and health and safety matters.
- Attend and participate in scheduled training and assessment.
- Participate in learning tasks to the training staff expectations.
An interview with the Head of Operations (Airflite Flying College) will be required to determine suitability and acceptance of the candidate for the Training Program.
